Fall...where are you?

I have so many beautiful things I would like to share photos of but I have been sick and swamped with things that HAVE to be done. Darn life! :)

Right now all I can think about is that I cant wait until fall so I can use my fire pit (I am calling it mine as my husband doesn't seem to care for it, weird right?) It has been to hot to bother lighting it this summer and I have a shortage of wood. Next week I am going to work on the wood issue since we need it for our indoor fireplace as well. Sadly that is not my fire pit, but I really like how it looks! I kind of would like a propane one so I don't smell like smoke every night. I am definitely watching sales for one of those!

I better get back to work as I am on a time shortage today! Have a wonderful weekend!

Weekly Money Checkup

1. The most I’ve spent this last week was on a small air conditioner for my craft room. The price was right: $100 and my husband was on board :) He installed it yesterday and it is heaven! It has been SO HOT lately... to add air conditioning to the whole house will cost over $2000, we are saving and there are LOTS of things on the list ahead of it.

2. Today I am thankful I can get some work done in cool air. It has been so hot I have only been hanging out in our basement watching tv.

3. Money can’t buy happiness. One free thing I did last week that made me happy was clean after my husband installed our whole house fan. He had insulation EVERYWHERE. Between getting a whole house fan and air in one room I am super happy!

4. I will consider this week a success if I can get at least 20 new bib/burp/rattle sets made. I only have a few left with no rattles... they are my money maker lately. We need LOTS more. A trip to the fabric store may be in order next week after I use up my current supplies.

5. A good friend is someone you can always be honest with. I have lots of friends that each are special in their own ways but my two best friends I can be bluntly honest with and they are the same back. It is refreshing for me to have those honest friends. No sugar coating for us.

Weekly Money Checkup

1. The most I’ve spent this last week was $39 on a new sink. Our extra bathrooms have metal coated porcelain sinks with metal trim. You cant get the trim clean and the inside of the sinks are scratched so they always look dirty. Yea to clean sinks....next month other bathroom. :)

2. Today I am thankful we had a REALLY productive weekend working together to get things done around the house.

3. Money can’t buy happiness. One free thing I did last week that made me happy was rip the dog kennel off the side of our house and sell it on craigslist. Check one piece of junk off my list!

4. I will consider this week a success if I get the main floor mopped. My husband is working on installing a whole house fan in our attic and keeps getting installation everywhere!

5. My favorite cuisine to prepare is grill food. I love summer and grilling. I am not sure if I like being outside more or the actual food.

Have a wonderful week!

Garden in July

So I haven't been real good about sharing photos of my garden. I have been eating lots of sugar snap peas and have tons of little tomatoes, jalopenos, and various bell peppers growing. We are eating fresh lettuce and should also be getting squash soon. Next year I am upgrading my pea trellis so I can have double the plants. I love my garden boxes! Don't tell my husband but I really wish I had room for more!

Our grass is coming back from having mites and looking good. What a GREAT summer!

Weekly Money Checkup

1. The most I’ve spent this last week was on bills. Not fun but I have a budget schedule so that by the end of the year we will have no debt (I am not counting student loan/house, its depressing), a new stove/microwave, new tires on my car and we will start looking for a Jeep for my husband.

2. Today I am thankful we have had so many light rain showers this week. My garden looks AWESOME and our front yard is looking better after the mites munched away on it and killed quite a bit.

3. Money can’t buy happiness. One free thing I did last week that made me happy was lay on our new mattress. I love being able to sleep.

4. I will consider this week a success if I get a new plan drawn up for our basement. I put our old mattress in our bar area and am in trouble as it is in the way of the dart board. I am defending myself by the fact that we have house guests way more often than we use the dart board/bar.

5. The strangest thing I have ever eaten is maybe alligator. I can't think of anything but I know I have eaten some weird things. We used to eat fresh Rocky Mountain. Oysters growing up when we had cattle. Most people would think that is strange but it is pretty normal here. Now I am going to be pondering this question all day.

Have a wonderful week!

Virtual Shopping Trip in my Head

I feel like going shopping right now. For lots of things! I think I could spend several thousand easily dreaming.

Here is my rather extensive list:

Closet
-New Black and Brown tall leather boots
   -New cute shirts
(One of my friends just gave me at least 5 pairs of jeans 10 pairs of shorts and lots of pants that don't fit her so I am set, and she buys nicer things than I do)
Kitchen
   -Fridge
-Gas Stove, need my dad to run a gas line for it. (October)
-Microwave hood, so I have more counter space. (October)
-Dishwasher that matches, this at least works all the time so it is not essential.

I may need to rethink these because the prices went up A LOT on the fridge and Stove since last week.

Laundry/Cleaning
-New vacuum, that actually sucks (Sam's Club has the best price on a Dyson)
-Washing Machine/dryer that are energy/water efficient and don't smoke if loaded 1/2 full.

And since I am obviously dreaming I would go buy my husband his Jeep Rubicon (still used).

If everything showed up all at once then what would I have to dream about? I think I easily just spent about $25,000 in my head....

What are you dreaming about?

Weekly Money Checkup...on Tuesday

Well as yesterday was a holiday I totally forgot to do weekly money checkup!

1. The most I’ve spent this last week was on a new mattress! Ours has been bothering me for quite awhile so we decided to go look at holiday deals. We also got new pillows which we needed. I slept AWESOME last night.

2. Today I am thankful that the dog we have been puppy sitting is going home tonight. Our two dogs plus an over 95lb dog is too much in one house. Not to mention I really want to deep clean right now. I am not a fan of my house being dirty....

3. Money can’t buy happiness. One free thing I did last week that made me happy was enjoy a bbq with friends. We even had sparklers to play with. :)

4. I will consider this week a success if I get the house vacuumed again, dusted, steam mopped, and pull all our weeds. I cleaned the kitchen and all the bathrooms yesterday morning and shut the doors so the dogs stay out. I really need to get our shed door painted as well....

5. My favorite 4th of July tradition is relaxing. We have rarely lived in the same place every year so we don't really have any traditions. When I was a kid though my parents always threw a HUGE 4th of July party and we had to have at least a 100 people there with LOTS of fireworks. Those parties will always stand out as happy memories. Next year maybe we will go to the park and check out fireworks but this year we just relaxed and it was wonderful. Side note: My husband proposed during fireworks over a river when we lived in Michigan.

New soft extra long purple and teal blanket!
Hope you had a WONDERFUL weekend, holiday or not! Saturday we enjoyed friends. Sunday we helped old friends from when we lived in AZ move to Denver and then picked out a new mattress. Monday we picked up the new mattress, my sister came and we made delicious venison burgers and cupcakes. The bonus was we went and saw the new X-men, it was pretty good. W e didn't get much done around the house....our list is still long but we had a good time. Oh, and my sister brought me a blanket she has been making me for about 4 years...it is AWESOME!
